East Coast Swing is a circular,
rotating swing dance that has many wraps, tunnels, and turns. The basic step
is: triple step, triple step, rock step. The music is diverse and includes
oldies (Elvis and Chuck Berry), jump blues, country, big band, and top 40.
East Coast Swing is a versatile dance. Swing music is written in 4/4 time
with a tempo of 145-170 beats per minute. Since this is a quick dance, the
steps should be small and light. The basic step is tough at first.
Fortunately, it's like learning to jump rope: initially it's awkward, but
eventually it becomes smooth and nearly effortless. It’s Fun. |
West Coast Swing is a cool, sexy
dance that spotlights the lady. Like hustle, it's perfect for nightclub
dance-beat music and is equally at home with contemporary and blues. This
dance consists of six and eight count patterns that are danced in a slot.
Much expression and creativity are possible with this dance. You can West
Coast to almost anything. Partner
connection is essential. This dance
uses both leverage and compression to accentuate the music through whips and
turns. The connection and proper frame
is tough at first. Compared to East
Coast Swing, this dance is a little more challenging. Do not get discouraged. You will master it. It’s Sexy. |
Salsa is a hot, Latin dance. The basic
step of salsa can be accomplished with less than 10 minutes of practice using
the basic 1,2,3 hold 4 step. In
advanced styles, there's a lot of shakin',
shimmying, and hip action. It’s Hot. |
